# Advising other businesses

> How an advisor invites a business to share a read-only view, or a business invites its advisor, how the business approves or changes what it shares, and how either side manages the link afterwards.

*This article is being updated.*

If you advise other businesses, Prevarro lets each of them share a view of their own workspace with you. Every link is read-only: you can look, but nothing can be edited, unless the business lets you send session next-steps into its Tasks. The business decides what you can see, and it can change that or take it back at any time.

## Inviting a business

You invite a business from the member's record, if your business uses Members and your role allows it.

1. Open the member in **Members**. On the **Prevarro workspace** card, choose **Invite to Prevarro**. You can also choose **Invite** on the **People** tab to invite a business without picking a member first.
2. Under **Read-only access they'll grant**, every module starts ticked. Untick any you'd rather not ask for. The dialog shows what they will see when they answer.
3. Enter **Their email** and choose **Send request**, and Prevarro emails the invite. Or leave it empty and choose **Generate invite link**, then **Copy link** and send it yourself. The link is shown once, so copy it before you close the dialog.

Each link works once and expires. To send it again, create a new invite.

## Answering an invite

When someone at the invited business opens the link and signs in, Prevarro opens the request on their business. The screen shows who is asking and the modules they asked for.

- Untick anything you'd rather keep, or tick anything else you're happy to share. What they get is yours to set.
- One box, **Session next-steps may be sent into your Tasks**, lets the advisor add tasks for you after a session. It's the only change an advisor can ever make, and it's off unless you tick it.
- Choose **Approve** to share, or **Reject** and then **Confirm reject** to turn it down. Either way the link is spent.

Answering a request is part of Settings, so it needs a role that can change Settings. If yours can't, ask someone whose role can.

## Advisory access

In **Members**, choose **Advisory access** beside the tabs. After approving a request, **Manage advisor access** brings you here too. The page has up to two lists, depending on what your role allows.

**Businesses you advise** lists every business that has shared with you, with what **They can see**.

- **Open** shows a **View only** page for that business, listing the modules it has **Shared with you**.
- **Ask for more** sends a request for further modules. The business approves or rejects it.
- **Relationship stage** records where the relationship is up to.
- **Link to a member** ties the business to one of your members, so the two stay together.
- **Withdraw** pauses a link from your side, so it can't be opened, and **Restore** brings it back.

**Invites you've sent** shows each invite and its status. **Revoke** cancels one that hasn't been answered.

The list headed **Advisors with access to** and your business's name shows every advisor who can see your business.

- **Edit access** changes what an advisor can see.
- When an advisor asks for more, choose **Approve** or **Reject**. Approving replaces what they can see with the modules you tick.
- **Revoke** and then **Confirm revoke** takes their access away at once.

## Inviting an advisor to your business

You can also invite an advisor yourself, even one who doesn't run a business on Prevarro. You need a role that can change Settings.

1. In **Members**, choose **Advisory access**, then **Invite an advisor**.
2. Enter **Their email**.
3. Under **Read-only access you'll grant**, every module starts ticked. Untick any you'd rather keep, then choose **Send invite**. Prevarro emails them a link, and they sign in with that address to accept.

**Invites waiting on an advisor** lists each invite until it's answered. **Re-send** sends a new link that replaces the old one, and **Revoke** then **Confirm revoke** cancels it.

When the advisor opens the link and signs in, they choose **Accept** or **Decline**. If they manage advisory links in a business of their own, they pick **Your practice**, and your business joins that practice's list. Otherwise the access is theirs personally, and your business shows on their **Shared with you** page.

A module you share that your business hasn't switched on stays dormant until you switch it on.

If the page says you don't have access, your role doesn't include Members or Settings. Ask someone whose role does.
