Your first 30 minutes

The short setup Prevarro runs when your account is new, and how the checklist on Home walks you through what to do next.

This article is being updated.

Your first half hour in Prevarro has two parts: a short setup that builds your workspace, then a checklist on Home that suggests what to do next. Nothing on the checklist is compulsory, and you can come back to any of it later.

Step 1: the setup

Once your account is created, Prevarro takes you through a short setup before you reach Home: three questions, then a summary. Your progress saves as you go, so you can close the page and pick up where you left off.

  1. Tell us about your business. You gave your business name when you signed up, so it isn't asked again. Choose the closest industry, and pick the shape that fits best: Jobs & Projects or Memberships & Plans. The shape decides which modules you start with. See "Your business template" for what each shape sets up. If you pick Jobs & Projects, you also see How does most of your work run?, which sets how a new job opens. It starts on Mostly one-visit jobs; change it if most of your work is multi-stage projects. Last, answer Yes or No to Registered for GST?. The question names the sales tax where you operate, so it may ask about VAT, GST/HST or sales tax instead.
  2. Money and dates. Check where you operate and the month your financial year starts. Prevarro pre-fills these for you. Canada also asks for your Province or territory, which you pick yourself.
  3. Add your team. Type the email addresses of the people you work with and choose Send invites, or choose Skip for now. Invites go out when you finish setup, and everyone you add here joins as a Team Member.

The last screen shows what Prevarro has built for your shape. Choose Explore my workspace to go to Home.

Step 2: the checklist on Home

Near the top of Home you'll see a card called Explore the power of Prevarro, with how many steps are done and a progress bar. "Create your account" and "Set up your business" already show Done, because you've just done both.

Under the progress bar is a row of step cards, one for each step. Each card shows where you are with it: Not started, Started or Done. Connect your tools shows how many of your tools are connected instead, such as 0 of 5 connected. The first card is marked Next up, your suggested next step. If the row doesn't fit, swipe it sideways or use the arrows at its ends to see the rest. Select a step you haven't done to go straight to where you do it.

Depending on your shape, the steps include:

Turn on SMS appears only for a business in Australia, since texting is offered only there.

A step ticks itself off once the work is done. For example, "Add your customers" ticks off as soon as your first customer exists, however you added them. You don't have to mark anything complete.

"Turn on two-factor" takes you to Settings → General. It ticks off once Require two-factor for all users is on in the Security policy card, so everyone in your business needs a passkey or an authenticator app on top of the emailed code. See "Signing in and keeping your account secure".

Everyone in your business sees their own version of the card, showing only the steps their role can do. When everything is done, the card reads You're up and running.

Hiding and bringing back the checklist

Each step card has its own ×. Select it to hide that step. A message confirms the step is hidden, with Undo to bring it straight back. To hide the whole card, choose Hide all in its corner. Hiding only affects you.

To see your progress again, go to Settings → Onboarding. The Setup checklist card lists each step and how many are done. A step you've hidden is marked Hidden: choose Show on Home beside it to put it back on the card. If you've hidden the whole card with Hide all, choose Show the checklist on Home again to bring it back.
